Where you’ll work: The role is based at the Hadlow College site, with occasional travel to any of the College sites as required.

Your hours: 40 hours per week or as required / 52 weeks per annum

Your pay: £27,569 per annum (£25,502 pa for 37 hours full time equivalent)

A new and exciting role of ‘Farm Instructor’ has been created at Hadlow College which is Kent’s only land-based college, part of North Kent College. The Hadlow campus is located 5 miles from Tonbridge and 8 miles from Maidstone and operates a 250-acre beef and sheep enterprise. Hadlow College is actively seeking agriculture/farm educational specialists or those from industry with skills to support our students on their educational journey.

The key functions of the role will see you support students with their practical agriculture lessons and assessments as well as give practical instruction and demonstration on the College’s farms, ensuring that highest standards of health and safety are maintained. Working with the Farm Manager you will support the execution of farm duties with the agriculture students which will enable students to develop their skills and working behaviours during the academic year.  Further, you will support the Farm Manager in the daily operation of the College farms including the management of the livestock, management of grasslands and maintenance of the farm estate, carrying out routine tasks involved with the efficient running of the farm enterprise.

Candidates will have proven operational farm experience and be able to take responsibility, demonstrate initiative and pay close attention to detail. Students are an integral part of the farming operation and a clear understanding of this is a necessity. The successful candidate will be required to provide support to the curriculum staff to deliver practical studies and assessments for students, the successful candidate will also be an integral component to the operational duties performed by students as well as support the farm operation.
