With vintage machinery, gundog scurries and more donkeys than ever before entered into the donkey show the weekend had a real ‘have-a-go’ feel.
The show, which celebrated with a harvest service first thing on Sunday, included an excellent competition by the National Vegetable Society with onions the size of footballs and metre long leeks able to turn any gardener broccoli green with envy.
Both new and experienced clay shots were lucky enough to have Olympian and four times Commonwealth Gold Medallist Charlotte Kerwood on hand to give tips and advice at the clay shooting range run by Charlotte’s father.
The launch of a new gun shop formed an integral part of the weekend and for those working their gundogs were able to take part in scurries run by BASC. Dogs were very much given a front stage role in the show with terrier racing, a lurcher and terrier show, and dogs of all shapes and sizes taking part in the dog agility.
With every aspect of country persuits covered showgoers were able to try their hand at flyfishing, cuddle the hounds of the Old Surrey Burstow & West Kent Hunt and meet a number of rare and native breed farm animals whilst enjoying delicious local, seasonal food.
