Bank holiday Sunday 27-28 August 2017
Ardenrun Showground, Ray Lane, Nr Lingfield, Surrey, RH7 6LL
Agriculture is as central to the 180th annual Edenbridge and Oxted Agricultural Show as it has been since 1837. The bank holiday weekend show now at Lingfield RH7 6LL still aims primarily to educate and entertain families about the country way of life.
This year the livestock section will be having a brand new parade in the main ring on Sunday at 4.30pm while the grand parade of cattle, the largest display in southern Britain, remains a finale highlight on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon. This year’s schedule and entry forms are available at www.edenbridge-show.co.uk, closing date 21 July.
The NFU will be bringing its brand new Discovery Barn with activities and giveaways to help children learn about farming and where their food comes from. There will be advice around the showground on poultry, growing vegetables, beekeeping and the rural skills of coppicing, wood turning and trug making. The livestock section has improved facilities for the public to see some of the finest stock in the country and breed booklets help to inform them. The Country Sports section has gundog competitions and demonstrations, flyfishing, archery, clay shooting and on Monday terrier racing, a terrier show and a dog show. Blacksmiths will be working in the farriery with shoeing and ironworks competitions.
Around the 140 acre showground there is plenty for all the family and children under 16 visit free with an adult ticket holder. Watch The Shetland Pony Grand National, tunnel-racing between children and ferrets, a children’s cookalong and world-class BMX stunt displays. Hold giant snakes, hissing scorpions and hairy spiders and visit the amusing Meerkat enclosure. See historic vehicles, falconry and visit the magnificent horticultural, “Keep it Local” crafts, regional foods and WI marquees.
