The event, entitled ‘The implications of Brexit on your farm tenancy – your questions answered’ will see an impressive line-up of speakers including the NFU’s vice president Stuart Roberts on farming post-Brexit and NFU lobbying, ensuring farmers’ voices are heard by government.

NFU South East tenants representative, John Marland, of East Sussex, explained that with Brexit on the horizon, now is the time for tenants to prepare. He said:” We’re holding this meeting now at this crucial period and as the government prepares new legislation to reform Farm Business Tenancies. Rent reviews from now on are likely to have implications going into, and potentially beyond, the transition period that sees the progressive phasing out of direct payments ending in 2027. We have updates from the NFU team, Hobbs Parker and the Defra Agricultural Transition team, but most importantly it’s an event for farmers to give their feedback and have their questions answered. It’s free for NFU members and its immediately after the livestock auction so we’re hoping for a good turnout.”
