Last September South East Farmer covered a story about a sheep attack on a farm in Wrotham.
Daryl Brown and Del Knowles’ flock of pedigree Kerry Hill sheep were mauled during a dog attack, which left three ewes dead and the entire flock requiring treatment.
But the pair’s spirits were lifted last month as Wrotham Amber, a member of the flock who managed to jump the fence and escape the dogs, was awarded best female in the breed section at the Royal Welsh Show in Builth Wells, going on to win overall Kerry Hill breed champion competing against more than 100 sheep in a prime area for the breed.
Later in the week she competed in the Royal Welsh Show’s native upland championship and was placed as reserve native upland supreme champion and went on to be one of the top six sheep out of more than 2,000 at the show which competed for the title of supreme sheep champion in the champion of champions award.
Their success did not end there as ewe lamb Wrotham Barbara was awarded any other pure breed champion at the Kent Show.
Daryl said: “I am so pleased she survived the attack. It seems after a very bad end to last summer this summer has been much better!”
