The dairy championship was a somewhat family affair, with Alex Warren of Guston Holsteins from Dover showing on behalf of Mike Goddard being awarded champion dairy with their Holstein, Guston Planet Lucy.
Alex’s son, Sonny Warren, was awarded reserve champion dairy with Henniker Tequila Kenai Milkie of Henniker Jerseys who he runs alongside Gustons.
Alex said: “My grandfather used to help organise this show so I am always keen to support it and its dwindling cattle numbers. It is a great day out for the public and an excellent way of communicating what we do.”
Champion beef was awarded to Rhys Grenham of Broad Reed Farm partnership with his Simmental bull, while Mark Wilson won champion pig with his saddleback.
The Wakeham-Dawson and Harmer flock refused to break tradition by winning champion sheep many times with their shearling Southdown ram.
